On a cold miserable winter day in Manhattan, three diverse married couples from varying age groups and interests, all hop in their cars and drive to Florida for a short getaway from the miserable weather. The trendy, mid-Twenties couple, head south to Coconut Beach to make a big cocaine score. The suburban-looking middle-aged couple also head to the same town to attend a giant swingers’ convention.The retired mid-sixties couple are headed there to attend a national shuffle-board tournament where the husband is defending his championship ranking. All three couples have identical luggage, a red plaid suitcase, and when they check into the hotel and their bags are intentionally switched, all three couples descend into 72 hours of panic. Meanwhile, three long-time unemployed losers from Detroit in their mid-twenties also arrive in town, in pursuit of a giant beer party. They’re just killing time, spending their last few dollars, before they have to return to pick up their next unemployment check. Totally without direction or ambition, all three score huge financial windfalls within a matter of hours of arriving at Coconut Beach. Between the three couples from New York and the three knuckle-heads from Detroit, these SNOWBIRDS make sure that South Florida, and screwball comedies will never be the same.
